I have very limited job experience. I’m only 21, and on my own now, and I can’t make it with my current job which only pays $7.25/hour. I’ve applied for several entry level positions, but am suprised at the ammount of experience required for “entry-level”. I’m fluent in Word, Excel, and Power Point, and can type 65+ wpm, but that doesn’t even seem to matter. Any advice?

Is it true that it doesn’t matter a whole lot in terms of where you get your degree from a university. I have heard it is more about the job experience that you have when you apply for a big company. I’m asking this because I go to San Jose State University, I know SJSU is not the best school out there, but will I still be able to find a good job at a big company like Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, or any other big companies. My major is Finance. Thank you all for your answers. Appreciated.

I’m a third-year Business Economics student and aspire to attend law school upon graduation. I want to apply at a law firm for a position which would be suitable for me but I don’t know what kind of jobs I should I apply for? I don’t have much experience just a few months as a telemarketer. Thanks for your answers.

I’ve been volunteering at a local hospital for a few years now. I am planning to apply for a new job and I don’t really have much job experience aside from waitressing. Could I use my volunteer work as job experience? Since it is not a “real job” do you think the employer won’t give me a chance?

I want to get a job at the college bookstore but I am 24 and no job experience mostly due to concentrating on my studies and partly due to a possible social anxiety disorder. I have never done extracurricular activities or volunteered. I’ve joined 2 clubs but have never been actively involved. I only have one reference, which is my mother’s friend.
How am I supposed to be confident in a job interview?
Am I just wasting my time applying?
